The Permanent Resident (PR) Card is an identification card which serves as proof of your status as permanent resident in Canada. This ID is required when you seek to re-enter Canada via commercial carrier. The PR card is issued as part of the immigration process. Several documents need to be gathered to get your first PR card or replace one that is stolen or expired. The PR Card is mailed to the Canadian address given to the immigration staff when you land. It takes four to six weeks for it to be processed and delivered.
