The second largest province in Canada is Ontario. It is also the wealthiest as well as having the largest population. The name Ontario comes from a native word Iroquois word meaning “beautiful water” . This of course refers to the natural wonders that Ontario offers which has many Lakes and Rivers. One sixth of Ontario’s area is water. Lake Superior and Lake Huron bounds Ontario’s southern border, while the Arctic coast fo Hudson Bay and James bay bounds the province on the North. The east side has the Ottawa river and the Manitoba Border is sitted on its west. The world famous Niagara Falls is also in Ontario. It is located on Ontario’s southern border and has a thundering water drop of 176 feet (54 meters).
Ontario is broken into two regions, Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario. The great majority of Ontario’s population and its arable land is located in the south, mostly along the northern lakeshores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. In contrast, the northern three-quarters of Ontario is sparsely populated.

Hamilton
Hamilton has a historic Victorian times at Dundurn Castle, a classic Regency-style villa and gardens, where costumed guides offer tours highlighting the castle’s dramatic history. Also in Hamilton is the Westfield Heritage Village which is a 19th-century village featuring over 35 restored and rebuilt buildings.
Kitchener-Waterloo
Kitchener-Waterloo has evident German influence and it hosts of the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich. Thousands of people – friends and families, the young and the not so young – visit the area each year to celebrate Bavarian style. It also has a wide array of art galleries and musically gifted groups like the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony or Grand Philharmonic Choir.
London
London is undoubtedly a university town. The University of Western Ontario or “UWO” is an unofficial member of the Ivy League of Canada which is made up of Western, Toronto, Queens and McGill universities. Student life is a big, big part of the London community, especially in the northern end of the city, where the campus is located. Students make up approximately one-third of North London’s population when school is in session.
Ottawa
Ottawa is a trip into Canada’s past: the Parliament Buildings, the Museum of Civilization, the Canadian War Museum, and the home of Canada’s Governor General, Rideau Hall, all offer an insight into the history and culture of Canada’s people. The National Gallery of Canada, a delight to fans of great art, features many periods and styles including one of the largest collections of Group of Seven and Tom Thomson paintings.
Toronto
Ontario’s capital city is the largest in Canada. Toronto is also the fourth largest city in North America. It has a major center for banking, manufacturing, communications, business ars an culture. The city has many art galleries, theaters and museums. Two famous Canadian structures, the CN tower and the SkyDome, are in Toronto. The CN tower is the largest free-standing structure in the world. The SkyDome is a sports complex famous for its roof that opens and closes. Toronto is also home to the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Ballet. Also commonly referred to as Broadway North, Toronto features many locally produced and touring large-scale musical productions.
Thunder Bay
Thunder Bay has been dubbed the gateway to Canada’s great outdoors. A major port located on the world’s largest freshwater lake and surrounded by the boreal forests of the Canadian Shield, Thunder Bay also presents plenty of opportunities for every conceivable wilderness diversion.
Windsor
Windsor is one of Canada’s southernmost cities known for warm summers and a picturesque waterfront that provides ample opportunity for those with a taste for water sports to get the most from their surroundings.The city is bordered by Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River, which provide a beautiful backdrop for the miles of paved, interconnected cycling paths and manicured walking trails lined with sculptures, gardens, shops, clubs, restaurants and buildings in historical Tudor and Jacobean styles spreading across the city.
