The number of immigrants that entered Canada on the first quarter of 2011 is 25 percent fewer compared to the same period in 2010. This raises some concern that the Federal Goverment might be embarking in restricting Canada’s immigration level. The number of permanent resident visa’s issued by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on the first quarter fell from 84,083 in 2010 to 63,224 in 2011. The skilled worker visa declined 28%, family sponsored relatives went down to 14% and refugees dropping by 25%.
