Alberta is on the westernmost part of the Prarie Provinces. It has mountains, exciting cities and untouched wilderness. There are also areas where they call “badlands” which Alberta shares together with Saskatchewan. These badlands are barren and arid land containing rock formations called “hoodoos”. Alberta has some of the world’s richest deposits of fossils and dinosaur bones. The province is also known for “chinook” which is a weather phenomenon that is a warm, dry wind that blows off the Rocky mountains. The chinook can melt a prarie snow cover in just a few hours.
